Fringe Benefits While on Leave. A bargaining unit member on a medical or maternity leave of absence or a family medical leave of absence, will have his/her fringe benefits according to terms of the collective bargaining agreement, for a twelve (12) week period. Following the twelve (12) week period, if the member wishes to continue his/her fringes, he/she will have the option to continue their fringe benefits in accordance with COBRA rules and regulations.

Fringe Benefits While on Leave. ‌ During any unpaid leave, except those covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, the employee will be responsible to pay to the Accounting Office each month, an amount sufficient to pay the insurance premiums if the employee chooses to continue coverage. All other fringe benefits shall terminate upon commencement of the unpaid leave of absence, except those leaves and benefits covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, and will be reinstated upon the employee’s return. It is the employee’s responsibility to complete necessary paperwork in the Human Resources Office to reinstate fringe benefits and insurance.

  • Benefits While on Leave An employee will continue to receive her/his salary and benefits while on paid leave under this Article. An employee on unpaid leave may arrange to pay the costs required to maintain benefit coverage in accordance with the local provisions of the collective agreement.

  • Vacation Leave on Retirement ‌ An employee scheduled to retire and to receive pension benefits under the Public Service Pension Plan Rules or who has reached the mandatory retiring age, shall be granted full vacation entitlement for the final calendar year of service.
