Graduate Teaching Assistant ("GTA"). A GTA is a GA employed by the University, whose primary role is instructional. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, leading lectures and/or laboratory sections, grading, proctoring, tutoring, holding office hours, leading discussion groups, communicating with students regarding the academic subject matter of one (1) or more course sections included in the GTA's work assignment, or generally assisting in the delivery of curriculum.

Graduate Teaching Assistant ("GTA"). A GTA will perform duties related to assisting a faculty member with a teaching assignment and research that support his/her academic program and the academic endeavors of the Supervisor and benefiting FIU. Such duties include but are not limited to preparing lectures, grading assignments, researching class topics, substituting for the Faculty of Record, and work (research) on thesis/dissertation and other papers, and other activities as assigned. Graduate General Assistant (GGA). A GGA will perform duties related to the academic program which has hired him/her, benefitting FIU and in furtherance of the GGA’s academic program but in which teaching or research is not a primary responsibility. It is recognized that a component of the GTA compensation relates to financial support in the role of a graduate student. GTAs shall prepare and conduct laboratories, seminars,or workshops. A GTA will not be assigned principal responsibility for the preparation and presentation of courses. Duties related to the position, which shall be in accordance with University and departmental practices, shall be determined by the person(s) who has (have) principal responsibility for the course. Those assigned duties include: • Employer-required training and orientation; • Assigning, marking, and evaluating written and oral student work; • Submission of grades as required; • Attendance at lectures in person or virtual as assigned; • Monitoring labs; • Preparing for and conducting discussion groups, seminars, workshops, and/or problem solving sessions; • Maintenance of reasonable hours for student contact. A GTA may volunteer to lecture in a course, but lecturing is not required as part of their GTA duties.

These individuals are selected based on past teaching experience or academic promise as effective instructors in their field of study. A GTA may be assigned responsibility for a self- contained class, for a laboratory or discussion class accompanying a faculty-taught lecture class, or for assisting a faculty member with teaching-related tasks such as lecturing, leading discussion groups, serving as an assistant to laboratory classes, advising students, proctoring examinations, preparing class materials, assisting during class, grading tests and papers, and providing general assistance in the instructional process. GTAs who teach courses for credit and/or assign final course grades must meet the faculty qualification standards established by WLU Policy.

  • Transfer and Seniority Outside the Bargaining Unit (a) It is understood that an employee shall not be transferred by the Hospital to a position outside the bargaining unit without his consent except in the case of temporary assignments not exceeding six (6) months. Such employees on temporary assignments shall remain members of the bargaining unit. (b) An employee who is transferred to a position outside the bargaining unit shall not, subject to (c) below, accumulate seniority. In the event the employee is returned by the Hospital to a position in the bargaining unit within twenty-four (24) months of the transfer he or she shall be credited with the seniority held at the time of transfer and resume accumulation from the date of his or her return to the bargaining unit. An employee not returned to the bargaining unit within 24 months shall forfeit bargaining unit seniority. (c) In the event an employee transferred out of the bargaining unit under (b) above is returned to the bargaining unit within a period of six (6) calendar months, he shall accumulate seniority during the period of time outside the bargaining unit."

  • Eligible Population 5.1 Program eligibility is determined by applicable law set forth in Program rules and the requirements established in the Program Policy Manual. 5.2 The unduplicated number of Clients for PHC services is 430. This represents the Grantee’s projected number of unduplicated Clients to be served during the Contract period.   • Dependent Care Assistance Program The County offers the option of enrolling in a Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP) designed to qualify for tax savings under Section 129 of the Internal Revenue Code, but such savings are not guaranteed.   • Positions outside the Bargaining Unit (a) An employee may substitute temporarily in a position outside the bargaining unit for up to fifteen (15) months from the date of the assignment. Bargaining unit employees shall be given the first opportunity to fill the resulting vacancy. The employee shall have the right to return to her or his bargaining unit position prior to the expiry of the fifteen (15) month period by giving the Employer six (6) weeks’ notice. Where an employee is backfilling outside of the bargaining unit for purposes of pregnancy and/or parental leave, the period of time will be extended up to nineteen (19) months from the date of the assignment. An employee who remains outside of the bargaining unit beyond the period covered by this article shall lose all seniority. When the employee returns to the bargaining unit, all other employee(s) shall revert to their previous positions. An employee must remain in the bargaining unit for a period of at least three (3) months before transferring out of the bargaining unit again or she or he will lose all seniority held at the time of the subsequent transfer unless the parties agree otherwise. (b) An employee who accepts a transfer under (a) above will not be required to pay Union dues for any complete calendar month during which no bargaining unit work is performed. (c) An employee who accepts a permanent position outside of the bargaining unit will lose all seniority held at the time of the transfer. (d) The Employer will advise the Union of the names of any employees pursuant to Article 9.17(a) or (b).
