Holiday Pay Entitlement. To be entitled to receive a paid holiday, including a floating holiday, an eligible nurse must be in payroll status on the normal workday immediately preceding and the normal work day immediately following the holiday(s) or work on the holiday. However, eligible intermittent nurses shall receive holiday pay if they work the day before and the day after the holiday or work on the holiday. Notwithstanding the above, nurses employed on an academic school year basis shall be eligible for the Christmas and New Year's holiday provided they are in payroll status on the last scheduled workday prior to the Christmas break and on the first scheduled workday following the break. A nurse is not entitled to holiday pay for any holiday occurring during the summer break unless actually on payroll status the day before and the day after the holiday. Any nurse who dies on a holiday or a holiday weekend shall be entitled to be paid for the holiday(s).
