Holiday Time. Whenever a holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as a holiday. Whenever a holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as a holiday. Employees working an irregular schedule shall observe the actual holiday as the holiday if it occurs on one of their regularly scheduled work shifts. Employees not normally scheduled to work on a holiday, or observed by the City as the holiday, will be credited with eight (8) hours holiday leave for each City holiday that falls on one of those days. An employee must be on paid status on the last scheduled work shift before and on the first scheduled work shift after the holiday to receive holiday compensation.
