Common use of Illness in the Family Clause in Contracts

Illness in the Family. (i) In order to attend to ill members of the immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, child, mother, father, persons acting in the place of a parent, and relatives permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee resides), the employee shall be entitled to a leave of absence with pay after notifying the Employer. (ii) For the above, there shall be a maximum allowed of five (5) accumulated sick leave days per illness, provided that the employee shall be limited to a total of fifteen (15) days in any calendar year. Extenuating circumstances will be judged on their merit. The above-noted leaves of absence shall be granted provided the employee is the only person available.
