Common use of INDUSTRIAL LEAVE Clause in Contracts

INDUSTRIAL LEAVE. 1. A unit member requesting leave to acquire experience and knowledge of his/her field of study as an employee in industrial or private employment may be granted such leave without pay or benefit. The leave may be granted for either one semester or for a full school year. 2. The unit member will be returned to his/her original position or to a position reasonably equivalent to that previously held. 3. Seniority as it pertains to job security shall accrue to the unit member during this period of leave. 4. Unit members on industrial leave for the spring semester or for a full year shall notify the District of their intention to return no later than February 1. The notification deadline for fall semester industrial leaves shall be November 1. Failure to provide such notification shall be considered to be a resignation from the District. 5. The District shall prescribe the manner of application for industrial leaves and the maximum number which may be approved.
