Informal Attempt at Resolution. An employee may, prior to filing a formal grievance, discuss any complaint or concern relating to their employment with their supervisor in an effort to resolve the matter. The informal discussion may include a Union Representative, upon the employee's request and the supervisor's approval. It is understood that the time limit for filing a formal grievance shall not begin until the informal process is concluded.

Informal Attempt at Resolution. In order for the City to have notice and an opportunity to correct any alleged unintentional violations of this Agreement, a Fire Fighter (and his/her representative) who is aggrieved should, where appropriate, seek to informally resolve a grievance with his/her supervisor and up the chain of command ending with the appropriate Assistant Chief.
