Common use of Jury Duty and Witness Duty Clause in Contracts

Jury Duty and Witness Duty. If an employee is required to serve as a juror in any court of law, or is required to attend as a witness in a court proceeding in which the Crown is a party, or is required by subpoena to attend a court of law or coroner’s inquest, in connection with a case arising from an employee’s duties at the Home, the employee shall not lose regular pay because of such attendance, provided that the employee: (a) Notifies the Home immediately on the employee’s notification that he/she shall be required to attend at court; (b) Presents proof of service requiring the employee’s attendance; and (c) Deposits with the Home the full amount of compensation received, excluding mileage, travelling and meal allowance, and an official receipt thereof.
