Common use of Jury Duty/Court Leave Clause in Contracts

Jury Duty/Court Leave. 1. Any teacher who is required to be absent from duty to perform jury service during his/her scheduled work period will suffer no loss of pay for such duty, contingent upon appropriate verification to the Treasurer that such service was rendered by the teacher. A teacher receiving notice to appear for jury duty shall notify the Superintendent as far in advance of the absence as possible, utilizing the personal leave form. 2. If a teacher is subpoenaed by the Board to serve as a witness in a court action, or if a teacher is subpoenaed as a witness in an action arising from his/her employment, he/she shall be given a leave of absence with pay for the time required for such appearance(s). This leave will not be granted to a teacher filing suit against the Board, or against one or more of its employees. A member of the bargaining unit receiving a subpoena shall notify the Superintendent as far in advance as possible utilizing the personal leave form.
