LAYOFFS, RECALLS, TEMPORARY TRANSFERS. 8.01 In the event of a layoff for any reason, the employee with the least seniority in the classification affected will exercise his/her seniority to displace the least senior employee in the group as specified in Appendix A provided he/she has the qualifications at that time to perform the job. The least senior employee in the group affected will then exercise his/her seniority to displace the least senior employee in the bargaining unit provided that the employee with the greatest seniority has the qualifications at that time to perform the job required. In applying the above procedure, the Company will, where ability to perform job functions Is not fully established, provide for a probationary / familiarization period of up to ten (10) working days. Following this period the employee shall either be confirmed in his/her position or continue to exercise his/her seniority in accordance with the above procedure. In the event that the employee exercising his/her seniority does not have the qualifications to perform the job of the least senior employee within the bargaining unit, he/she will then displace the next least senior employee in the bargaining unit provided he/she possesses the qualifications at that time to perform the job required. If necessary this procedure will be repeated until the employee has displaced an employee with less seniority.   • Temporary Transfers When an employee is assigned temporarily to perform the duties and assume the responsibilities of a higher paying classification in the bargaining unit, she shall be paid the rate in the higher salary range immediately above her current rate for all hours worked in the assignment.

  • Temporary Transfer Where an employee is assigned temporarily to perform the duties and assume the responsibilities of a higher paying position in the bargaining unit, he shall be paid the rate in the higher salary range immediately above his current rate for all hours worked in the higher paying position.
