Common use of - Leave of Absence: Personal Illness Clause in Contracts

- Leave of Absence: Personal Illness. Any teacher whose personal illness extends ten (10) consecutive days beyond the period for which he/she is compensated under our Sick Leave Article (Section 5.01), shall be granted an unpaid leave of absence, for such time as is necessary for complete recovery from such illness. The Board will continue to pay for the teacher's fringe benefits for one month beyond the month in which the teacher’s sick days expire, or until the teacher is eligible for long term disability, whichever comes first. During the leave of absence, the teacher may elect to continue insurance benefits by paying premiums through the Central Office, contingent upon approval of the respective insurance carrier.
