Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence. 1. Any employee may apply for an unpaid personal leave of absence for good and sufficient reason. Leave pursuant to this provision may be for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months in any fourteen (14) consecutive months. Such leave may be granted at the discretion of the appointing authority and shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees are encouraged to consult with their agency/department Personnel Officer to determine if they are eligible for benefits available under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. All requests for such leave and responses shall be in writing. The application for leave must specifically state the reasons for such application and the length of time requested. After completion of a period of personal leave of absence, the employee shall be entitled to return to the organizational unit, status and position held immediately prior to the beginning of the leave of absence. If the employee's position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority Article of this Agreement.
Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence. 17.10.1 The District may, in its sole discretion, grant a leave of absence without pay to probationary and tenured faculty. Within five working days from the date of the Board action, Human Resources will provide the faculty member requesting a leave pursuant to this section with written notice of the approval or disapproval of the leave request.
Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence. 7.10.1 The District may, in its sole discretion, grant a leave of absence without pay to permanent employees.
Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence. A permanent Unit Member may be granted an unpaid leave of absence for personal reasons including, but not limited to, personal health, family concerns, child rearing, adoption, and other personal matters for which there are no other leave provisions, or where other applicable leave provisions have been exhausted. An unpaid leave of absence shall not normally exceed six (6) calendar months and shall be subject to approval by the campus President/Xxxxxxx, the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources or designee and the Board of Trustees.

Requests for an unpaid personal leave of absence for purposes not covered by family and medical leave shall be submitted in writing to the employee’s immediate supervisor at least five (5) working days in advance of the date of the requested leave of absence. With the exception of leaves of absence to allow the employee to serve in any elected or appointed position, public or union, for child care purposes, or to allow for educational purposes, unpaid personal leaves of absence will not normally be granted for periods in excess of thirty (30) calendar days. Leaves of absence under this section will not normally be granted beyond the end of the school year during which the leave commenced, but the Board in its discretion may grant extensions of a leave for periods of up to one year. The commencement date and return date shall be specified in the grant of the leave of absence. All such leaves shall be without salary or benefits.

All requests for such leave and responses shall be in writing. The application for leave must specifically state the reasons for such application and the length of time requested. After completion of a period of personal leave of absence, the employee shall be entitled to return to the Regional Site, status and position held immediately prior to the beginning of the leave of absence, if available, or a similar position. If the employee’s position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority and Reduction in Force Article of this Agreement. To the extent permitted by law, an employee shall be responsible for paying the full premiums of any health insurance benefits during the unpaid personal leave of absence.

Requests for an unpaid personal leave of absence shall be submitted in writing to the employee’s immediate supervisor at least five (5) working days in advance of the date of the requested leave of absence. Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence. All Supplements and Riders shall maintain the unpaid personal leave of absence provisions contained in those labor agreements in effect prior to the contract ratification date, unless otherwise set forth in the current Supplements and/or Riders.
Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence. 7.8.1 A teacher may request a personal leave of absence without pay, stating the length and purpose of the leave. If the reasons for the leave are compelling, and the teacher has had a satisfactory record of employment with the District, an effort will be made to grant the request. Leave requests are expected to coincide with school semesters/terms to the greatest extent possible.
Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence. The Employer may in its discretion grant an employee an unpaid personal leave of absence for matters that necessitate the employee's absence from work. An unpaid personal leave of absence may be for a period not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days. Requests for a personal leave of absence shall be in writing, signed by the employee, and given to the superintendent no later than thirty days prior to the requested absence. In emergencies only, this timeline may be altered with Superintendent’s approval. Such requests shall state the reason for the leave. An extension of personal leave of absence may be granted by the employer in its sole discretion, provided the extension is requested in writing prior to the termination of the original leave period. Disputes concerning the denial of requests for unpaid personal leaves of absence are not subject to arbitration.
