Common use of Leave of Absence (Unpaid) Clause in Contracts

Leave of Absence (Unpaid). In addition to the Family Medical Leave Act, a leave of absence for up to one (1) year may be granted by the Board of Education at its discretion. Any applicant desiring such leave shall present, in writing, his request stating clearly the reason and purpose of the leave to the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall report the request, together with his recommendation, to the Board at the next regular Board meeting. Without request, the Board may grant a leave of absence to an employee because of physical or mental disability. Purposes for which a leave of absence may be granted are: 1. Personal illness and/or illness of immediate family; 2. Physical or mental disability; 3. Maternity; 4. Military service; 5. Educational or professional purposes;
