Reasons for Taking Leave. A leave request from an eligible employee must be granted for any of the following reasons:
16.10.2.1 Birth of the employee’s child;
16.10.2.2 Placement of a child with the employee for adoption or xxxxxx care;
16.10.2.3 Care for the employee's child, spouse, or parent with a serious health condition;
16.10.2.4 The employee’s own serious health condition that keeps the employee’s own job function from being performed;
16.10.2.5 A qualifying exigency arising from the foreign deployment of the employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or parent with the Armed Forces (“qualified exigency”);
16.10.2.6 To care for a servicemember with a serious injury or illness if the employee is the servicemember’s spouse, son, daughter, parent or next of kin (“military caregiver”).
Reasons for Taking Leave. Unpaid leave must be granted for any of the following reasons:
A) To care for the Employee's child after birth, or placement for adoption of xxxxxx care;
B) To care for the Employee's spouse, son or daughter, or parent, who has a serious health condition; or
C) For a serious health condition which makes the Employee unable to perform his job.

4. Because of a qualifying exigency arising out of the fact that the employee’s spouse, child or parent is a military reservist or National Guard member on active duty (or notified of an impending call for active duty) in support of a contingency operation.

3. Care for the employee’s child, spouse, or parent with a serious health condition;

An employer must grant unpaid leave to an eligible employee for one or more of the following reasons: For the care of the employee's child (birth, or placement for adoption or xxxxxx care); for the care of the employee's spouse, son or daughter, or parent who has a serious health condition; or, for a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform their job. At the employee's or employer's option, certain kinds of paid leave may be substituted for unpaid leave. ADVANCED NOTICE AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATION . . . The employee may be required to provide advance leave notice and medical certification. The employee ordinarily must provide 30 days advance notice when the leave is "foreseeable." An employer may require medical certification to support a request for leave because of a serious health condition. An employer may also require medical certification if the employee is unable to return from leave because of a serious health condition.

a. To care for the unit member's child after birth, or placement for adoption or xxxxxx care;
b. To care for the unit member's spouse, son or daughter, or parent, who has a serious health condition; or
c. For a serious health condition that makes the unit member unable to perform his or her job, except for leave taken for disability due to pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions.
