Common use of Leave of Absence (Unpaid) Clause in Contracts

Leave of Absence (Unpaid). (a) Employees may be granted leave of absence without pay for a period of up to one (1) year. (b) A leave of absence without pay may be granted for education, child rearing, maternity, paternity, family care, or verifiable emergencies that may arise and cannot be managed in any other reasonable manner. (c) An Employee wishing to take leave without pay will so request, in writing, to the Employer at least sixty (60) days prior to the anticipated start of such leave. The Employer will respond in writing within thirty (30) days from receipt of the Employee’s request. (d) Leave of Absence without pay will not be unreasonably denied.
