Common use of Leave Provisions Clause in Contracts

Leave Provisions. a. Each eligible employee is entitled to and shall be granted upon request up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year to care for a new child or sick child, parent or spouse, or to use for the employee’s own medical treatment. Such leave may be taken for the care of a newly adopted or newly placed xxxxxx child, as well as a newborn child. b. Any leave beyond 12 weeks in a year for these combined purposes may be granted pursuant to the other leave provisions of this Agreement. Eligible employees may choose to substitute paid leave granted by other provisions of this Agreement for all or part of the unpaid leave granted under this Article. Leave under the Act may be taken intermittently, when medically necessary. The employee will attempt to schedule medical procedures so as not to interrupt their work unnecessarily.
