Leaves of Absence Without Pay. Section 1 8.1 The Superintendent shall grant a leave of absence to anyone called into the military service by the government. Section 2 An employee may be granted authorize a leave of absence without pay for up any permanent or probationary unit member for a period not to one exceed thirty (30) calendar days. Requests for Rights accrued at the time the leave is granted shall be retained by the member. Vacation credits, sick leave credits, increases in salary, and other similar benefits shall not accrue to a person granted such leave will be supported by appropriate medical evidence. Upon return from such leave, a staff member will be placed on the salary schedule at the level which he/she would have achieved had he/she remained actively employed during the period of his/her absence up to a maximum increase of four (4) years. Section 4: A leave of absence without pay or increment of up to one (1) year may be granted to non-probationary staff members for the purpose of caring for a sick member of their immediate family.
