Length of Continuing Service a. For the purpose of establishing "length of continuing service with the School District", as used in Section 24-12 of the School Code, the first date of service will be determined as follows:

Length of Continuing Service. Definitions Length of Continuing Service shall be calculated from the employee’s first day of work in a position (excluding substitute work) for SESE. A day of work shall be defined as a day in which the employee is present or paid or is on a qualifying unpaid leave. A qualifying unpaid leave shall be those leaves covered under the FMLA or other child-rearing leaves of six (6) months or less. However, employees cannot accrue continuing service while on an unpaid leave or absence except as provided above. Further, employees who resign shall forfeit all prior earned service. Length of Continuing Service shall accrue either in a certified, licensed or non-certified position separately, and an employee shall accrue continuing service only in the category of current employment. An employee shall have no right to claim continuing service or to “bump” cross-categorically, except as otherwise provided by law. In the case of a tie in continuing service, the sequence of honorable dismissal shall be determined by the following:

  • EXTENDED SERVICE 156 Upon application, a military leave of absence (without pay) will be granted to employees who are employed in other than temporary positions. This applies to employees who are inducted through a selective service system or voluntary enlistment, or if the employee is called through membership in the National Guard or reserve component into the Armed Forces of the United States.
