Common use of Lunch and Rest Breaks Clause in Contracts

Lunch and Rest Breaks. ‌ 1. Employees who work at least seven hours in a work day will be scheduled for a 30 minute lunch break without pay at or near the midpoint of the scheduled day. Employees who work at least four but less than seven hours in a work day may be scheduled for a 30 minute lunch break without pay at or near the midpoint of the scheduled day. 2. Employees who work at least seven hours in a work day shall be entitled to a 15 minute paid break period during the first half of their work day and a 15 minute paid break period during the second half of their day. Employees who work at least four but less than seven hours in a work day shall be entitled to one 15 minute paid break. Such breaks may not be scheduled during the first or the last hour of either half of the employee's work day.
