Meal and Rest Breaks. (a) The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to organize the work assignment on a shift in such a way as to allow each Nurse to have designated meal and rest break(s) at regular intervals during the shifts.
(b) The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that no Nurse will work longer than five (5) consecutive hours without a break, unless mutually agreed between the Nurse and the Employer.
(c) Nurses shall be permitted to combine meal and/or rest break(s) where operationally possible.
(d) Operational requirements may require that Nurses remain on the nursing unit or within the facility for their designated meal and rest break(s).
(e) Where operational requirements prevent a Nurse from having an uninterrupted meal or rest break(s) and it is not possible to reschedule the missed break(s) or a portion of the break(s) during the remainder of the shift, the Nurse shall be compensated for the portion of the missed meal period or rest period, at a rate of one and one-half times (1.5x) the Nurse’s hourly rate for the period of the rest and meal break(s) missed.
Meal and Rest Breaks. 5.7.1 Employees are entitled to a paid rest period of 10 minutes between 9am and 11am in any day.
5.7.2 Employees are entitled to an unpaid meal break of 30 minutes no later than after five hours of work in any day.
Meal and Rest Breaks. 3.2.1 An Employee shall be allowed a meal break of not less than 1/2 hour and not more than 1 hour after a maximum 5 hours worked.
3.2.2 An Employee shall be allowed two rest breaks of 10 minutes each during each period of duty, at times specified by his/her Employer.
Meal and Rest Breaks. 6.1 No employee shall be required to work for more than five hours continuously without being allowed a meal break of not less than half an hour, nor more than one hour's duration.
6.2 Each employee shall be allowed rest breaks of 10 minutes each in the morning, afternoon or evening at times specified by his/her supervisor/manager.
Meal and Rest Breaks. Employees who are not scheduled a duty-free meal period shall have meal periods counted as hours worked. All other employees shall be granted a meal period of not less than thirty (30) minutes nor more than one (1) hour unless mutually agreed otherwise between the employee and the Supervisor. Meal periods shall be scheduled at approximately mid-period of the employees' work shift. A rest period of fifteen (15) minutes shall be allowed during each consecutive work period of four (4) hours or more. Such rest periods shall be in accordance with operating requirements.

(a) All authorized time worked in excess of the normal scheduled work day (8 hours) or in excess of eighty (80) hours per two (2) week period, shall be considered overtime and shall be compensated by pay or time off in lieu of pay at the rate of one and one-half times (1.5 x) the Nurse’s regular hourly rate for the number of overtime hours worked. A Nurse who works in excess of four (4) continuous hours overtime shall be compensated at a rate of two times (2x) the Nurse’s regular hourly rate for the overtime worked in excess of the first (1st) four (4) hours of overtime.
(b) Time off or premium pay for overtime will be by mutual agreement between a Nurse and the Employer. Lieu time shall be taken at a time mutually agreeable between the Employer and a Nurse.
(c) Overtime shall not be claimed for less than fifteen (15) minutes at the end of a shift, but if overtime amounts to fifteen (15) minutes or more, the overtime rates shall apply to the total period in excess of the shift.
Meal and Rest Breaks. Employees are entitled to an unpaid meal break of 30 minutes, during any 10- hour shift. Employees are also entitled to a paid rest period of 10 minutes, during any 10-hour shift. If employees work a twelve hour shift, they will be paid for the entire shift including meal and rest periods (up to a total of 40 mins, during the 12 hour shift.)
Meal and Rest Breaks. 20.1 Day Workers and Shift Workers working more than five (5) Ordinary Hours each day shall be entitled to one daily:
20.1.1 Paid rest break of 20 minutes in duration; and
20.1.2 An unpaid meal break of 30 minutes in duration.
20.2 For Day Workers, and unless otherwise agreed, the paid rest break is to be taken between 9am-11am and unpaid meal break from midday – 2pm.
20.3 For Shift Workers, and unless otherwise agreed, the rest break will occur between the second and fourth hour from commencement of shift. The meal break will occur between the fifth and seventh hour from commencement of shift.
20.4 Day Workers and Shift Workers who are required to work overtime on a Saturday or Sunday, or a rostered day off, shall be entitled to:
20.4.1 A paid crib break of 20 minutes after each five (5) hours worked if the work is scheduled to continue after the break. Payment for this crib break shall be at the prevailing overtime rate.
20.4.2 A second paid crib break of 20 minutes will be due if working eight (8) hours or more, paid at the prevailing overtime rate.
20.4.3 Subsequent paid crib breaks of 20 minutes for each additional period of four (4) hours worked after the entitlement in Subclause 20.4.2.
20.5 Meal and rest breaks will be taken at time(s) agreed between the Employer and the majority of Employees affected in accordance with the above provisions, and may be staggered by the Employer to meet work requirements. In the absence of agreement, the Employer is entitled to determine the time for taking breaks consistent with the principles in 20.2 and 20.3 as applicable.

Meal periods shall be scheduled at approximately mid-period of the employees' work shift. Meal and Rest Breaks. The Company shall not require any employee covered by this Agreement to work less than four (4) or more than five (5) consecutive hours at any time without one-half (½) hour lunch break.
