MANAGEMENT PAID LEAVE. The County recognizes that the time required by management (M-designated) employees to complete their duties is not limited by the length of the normal County workweek by allowing employees paid leave of absence in each calendar year.‌

MANAGEMENT PAID LEAVE. 1. Each exempt employee, who, as an executive, administrative, or professional employee, is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, shall receive seven (7) days or fifty-six (56) hours of paid leave of absence in each calendar year in recognition of time worked in excess of the normal County workweek, to be scheduled by the employee, subject to the approval of the Sheriff and to be taken only within that calendar year. 2. Paid leave allowed pursuant to the subsections above shall be scheduled by mutual agreement of the employee and the Sheriff and taken within the calendar year in which it was granted. The paid leave allocation will appear in the leave balances on the first paycheck in the month of January of each year. Any days or balance of paid leave hours that for any reason are not taken in the calendar year earned shall not thereafter be paid in any form.

  • Unpaid Leave Accrued compensatory time off may be used at the employee’s discretion, with management approval, after exhaustion of 100% sick leave (No. 3 above). However, FLSA compensatory time off shall not be counted against the employee’s four (4) month (nine [9] pay period [720 hours]) family or medical leave entitlement. Therefore, any use of FLSA compensatory time off under this Section shall extend the employee’s family or medical leave by the total amount of FLSA compensatory time off used.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer. 15.2 If bereavement occurs while an employee is absent on annual leave, sick leave on pay, or other special leave on pay, such leave may be interrupted and bereavement leave granted in terms of 15.1 above. This provision will not apply if the employee is on leave without pay. 15.3 In granting time off therefore, and for how long, the employer must administer these provisions in a culturally sensitive manner.
