Medical Leave. Leave of absence up to one (1) year shall be granted to any supervisor who has completed an initial probationary period with the State and who, as a result of an extended illness or injury, has exhausted his/her accumulation of sick leave. Such leave shall be limited to a cumulative total of one (1) year per illness or injury. Upon the request of the supervisor such leave may be extended. Supervisors shall receive reasonable notice in writing before a medical leave is cancelled. An Appointing Authority may require appropriate medical documentation of the illness, injuries, or disability. The Appointing Authority may require the supervisor returning from a medical leave to furnish a statement from a medical practitioner if the Appointing Authority has reason to believe the supervisor is not fit to return to work.
