Common use of Minimum Paid Periods Clause in Contracts

Minimum Paid Periods. If an employee is required to remain at their work place to work overtime, they will be paid for a minimum of 1/2 hour. Time worked beyond the first 1/2 hour of overtime will be recorded to the next higher 1/4 hour. The applicable clause may be invoked with respect to meal intermissions. If they are required to return to their normal work location, aside from a normal meal intermission, or if they are required to perform overtime work at another location, a 2 hour minimum will apply, plus whatever travelling time is applicable. An employee scheduled to work on their scheduled day off will be paid for a minimum of 4 hours at overtime rates, but will not be paid for time spent in travelling to and from their normal work location.
