Movement to a Lower Paid Position. A permanent employee who is appointed to a position in a lower pay grade or is reclassified downward shall be reduced to the hourly rate of pay in the new pay grade, which is next below the employee’s current hourly rate of pay. These provisions are subject to the minimum and maximum of the new pay grade. The employee’s annual increment date will be maintained. Notwithstanding the above, if a position is reclassified downward, the incumbent, if permanent in the position and whose hourly rate of pay exceeds the maximum of the new pay grade, shall retain their rate of pay in effect prior to the downward reclassification of their position. The employee shall not be entitled to any economic adjustment until such time as the maximum of the lower pay grade overtakes the hourly rate of pay retained under this clause.

  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE Article 11 applies for both paid and unpaid leaves. For the purposes of an unpaid 11.25 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 14.05 hours. For the purposes of an unpaid 7.5 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 9.375 hours.

  • Probationary Period A new employee will be considered on probation until he has completed forty-five (45) days of work (or 337.5 hours of work for employees whose regular hours of work are other than the standard work day), within any twelve (12) calendar months. Upon completion of the probationary period he shall be credited with seniority equal to forty-five (45) working days. With the written consent of the Hospital, the probationary employee and the President of the Local Union or designate, such probationary period may be extended. Any extensions agreed to will be in writing and will specify the length of the extension. The release or discharge of an employee during the probationary period shall not be the subject of a grievance or arbitration.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • Overtime Overtime will begin to accrue after sixty (60) hours in a two (2) week period averaged over the scheduling period determined by the local parties. Overtime will apply if the employee works in excess of the normal daily hours. Payment for overtime is as in Article 16.01.
