In this instance, the law requires that a county opting into the CSEC Program form an MDT to coordinate the case planning, case management, and services for each CSE youth. Promising practices suggest that an MDT be formed and individualized for each youth that is strengths-based and prioritizes the youth’s voice in the decision-making process. Youth should have the option of participating in the MDT as appropriate. Other public agency partners may be required to participate. Some of the activities the MDT may utilize are:  Convening emergency meetings upon identifying a CSE youth  Addressing the child’s basic needs  Making a recommendation about where to place the child  Developing a safety plan for the child  Reconvening should a triggering event occur (such as running away or another arrest).  Providing a venue for the legal exchange of confidential information (see Appendix A).

Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). The MDT is allowed under the Welfare and Institutions Code Section 15754 and is comprised of various professionals, including, but not limited to, the Assessment Team, SSA staff, law enforcement, home health care agencies, hospitals, Public Guardian, HCA/BHS, District Attorney, Ombudsman, and others as designated by ADMINISTRATOR. The MDT will assist in the development of an interagency action plan or in identifying Next Steps to ensure coordination with community resources and to avoid duplication of efforts.
