Notice of Layoff. (a) Twenty-eight (28) days’ written notice of layoff shall be given to the President of the Local Union and to the Provincial office of the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union except layoff which results from labour disputes or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the Employer in which case as much notice as possible will be given. (b) The Employer will consult with the Union representatives regarding ways to minimize the adverse effect on the Nurse(s) to be laid off. The Employer may consider additional options presented by the Union. The application of additional options where agreed by the Union and the Employer shall be deemed to not violate the Collective Agreement.
