Common use of Notice of Layoff Clause in Contracts

Notice of Layoff. (a) The layoff notices shall include the effective date of layoff and the reasons therefore. (b) Thirty (30) days notice of layoff shall be sent by the Employer to the Union and the employee (s) who is/are to be laid off, except where a greater period of notice is provided for under (c) below. (c) Where the Employer lays off ten (10) or more persons within any period of four (4) weeks or less, eight (8) weeks’ notice of layoff shall be sent by the Employer to the Union and employees who are to be laid off.
