Opening and Closing - NRO only. The Employer shall cover the opening and closing of the Store with management employee and/or a Lead Hand, unless there are operational restraints outside of the stores control, i.e. if one of the managers calls in sick or has an emergency day. This is grievable and will this will be reviewed within three months of ratification in Labour/Management. *At the Thrift Store only Letter of Understanding - Volunteers and Community Service Workers shall be deleted and replaced with the Letter of Understanding as below: The parties have reached the following Letter of Understanding as a trial period for the following NRO "Thrift Store" of Brantford from the date of ratification, to expiry. It is recognized that the Salvation Army NRO Thrift Stores may utilize:  Community Service Offenders (CSO),  Secondary School Community Service Certificate Volunteers (excludes coop students),  "of the heart" volunteers,  and those accompanied by a support services worker, to work alongside unionized employees in support of the employees performing their assigned duties. The use of such volunteers and CSO participants as above shall not result in lay-off or reduction of hours of bargaining unit members. All such volunteers and CSO participants are not to work continual or prolonged scheduled hours and as such may be the subject of a grievance. The Program trial is to record such participation and report to the Thrift Store Xxxxxxx and the Union office on a monthly basis via the sign in/out sheet. The spirit of the program is not to prevent the development of full-time or part-time jobs. The volunteer hours are capped at a maximum of ninety (90) hours per store for each month, for the life of the trial as per above. Individual cases may be examined by the parties. The cap excludes those volunteers who are accompanied by a support services worker, unless otherwise agreed to by both parties. However, each volunteer will still sign in/out and the hours shall be tracked. Each volunteer will sign-in and sign-out, with the sheets available at the front of the store to the Union. These will be authorized by the GM or their designate, and monthly reports are sent to the Xxxxxxx and a copy to the Union Office. The Employer will not continue to accept additional "of the heart volunteers but those currently volunteering may continue to do so.
