Personal Illness Leave. 25.1 Upon reporting for one full workday, each school year a teacher shall be entitled to be absent from work on account of illness, physical disability, surgery, or quarantine for a total of ten (10) days without loss of compensation. This provision is subject to written verification from the most recent employer. 25.4 In the event that the employer has reason to believe that abuse of the personal illness leave by the teacher exists; said employer may require the teacher to verify such illness, disability, etc., affirming that the teacher is unable to fulfill his/her normal assigned duties because of such illness or disablement. 25.5 Teachers may donate up to two (2) sick leave days in a given school year. These days may be donated to any teacher who, in the case of extended illness, has exhausted his/her sick leave days and personal leave days. A request for such donations will be made through the president of the Association. With the consent of the teacher making the request, the Association will convey the request to teachers and will circulate the appropriate form among teachers. Completed forms will be submitted to the Superintendent by the president of the Association. A doctor’s certificate will confirm the illness. The maximum number of days that may be donated to a given teacher in a given school year is the number of days it would take to enable that teacher to be eligible for long term disability insurance up to a maximum of sixty (60) days in a given school year. 25.6 Summer School teachers (other than teachers of driver’s education) shall be eligible to use two (2) sick leave days credited but not used during the previous regular school year. 25.6 Summer School teachers (other than teachers of driver’s education) 24.6 Maternity leave shall be eligible granted to teachers in accordance with the provisions of applicable State law. The use of the teacher’s available paid leave time will be limited to 6 weeks (30 working days) for natural childbirth and 8 weeks (40 working days for a C-section delivery.
24.7 A teacher shall be entitled to use two up to thirty (230) sick days of personal illness leave days credited but not for the adoption of a child. The leave shall be used during for the previous regular school yearcare of the newly adopted child and shall commence immediately following the placement of the child. If necessary, these days both parents of the adopted child are employed by the Baugo Community Schools the parents shall be pro-rated on the basis limited to twoa combined total of thirty (30) days of personal illness.

X. Xxxx leave shall not be paid where other benefits are available if the inability to work is due to sickness or accident for which h/she is entitled by virtue Workers’ Compensation, Social Security, other statutory benefits, or any other insurance benefits are payable except as provided in Article XI, Section 10 of Section 26.1this Agreement. In no event will the total amount of compensation paid from any source exceed the teacher’s regular pay.
F. Teachers who have accumulated more than ninety (90) personal sick leave days as of July 1, the unused 2007 may be compensated for any sick days shall be accumulated up to a maximum in excess of ninety (90) days ( See Article 26 Attendance Stipend).
25.3 In the event as follows: Sixty percent (60 %) of daily substitute rate per day. Once a teacher shall have lowers his / her maximum accumulated one (1) or more days of sick leave in another school corporation and shall thereupon become employed by the Baugo Community Schoolsday amount under this Paragraph, there shall be added for the second year, and each succeeding year of such employment up to three (3) days of sick leave until the number of accumulated days to which said teacher was entitled in the last place of employment shall be exhausted. If, in any year of this Agreement the number of excess sick leave days offered for buy back exceeds the remaining maximum number of days the Board is obligated to buy back, the buy back shall be donated a ratio of the total number of days offered for buy back divided by the total number of days left in the maximum number of days the Board agreed to a given teacher buy back. The monies will be deposited in the teacher’s VEBA account no later than the date of the first pay period in October.
G. Teachers who are at their maximum sick day accumulation and who do not use all their new sick days in a given school year is shall be compensated for those days as follows: Sixty percent (60%) of daily substitute rate per day. The date for determining the number of days it would take to enable that teacher to used under this Paragraph shall be eligible for long term disability insurance up to a maximum the day before school starts. The monies will be deposited in the teacher’s 401(a) or VEBA account no later than the date of sixty the first pay period in October. For payments in October 2010 and 2011, this shall be seventy percent (60) days in a given school year70%).
25.6 Summer School teachers (other than teachers of driver’s education) shall H. Any days missed due to sickness or accident which would qualify for coverage by Workers’ Compensation insurance will not be eligible to use two (2) charged against sick leave accumulation. Any sick leave days credited but not used during the previous regular school year. If necessary, these to cover missed days later determined to be days missed due to an absence that qualifies for coverage by Workers’ Compensation insurance shall be pro-rated on restored to the basis to twoteacher’s sick leave account.
