POSTING AND FILLING VACANT POSITIONS. E. 22.1 In this Article "vacancy" means a newly created position or an existing position vacated by the incumbent which the Board intends to fill. All vacancies of 20 days or more shall be posted. All teachers in the District are eligible to apply for all vacancies. During spring post and fill (May to June 30), when a teacher has applied for and accepted an assignment for the coming year, that teacher will not be eligible to apply for further assignments which are posted unless the assignments are continuing or will increase their FTE for the following year. a. Positions that become vacant during the school year shall be filled with a teacher on a temporary contract except for a position requiring special skills that may be filled as continuing in accordance with Article E.22. b. In such circumstances where the Board intends to fill such a vacancy on a continuing basis during the school year the BVTU president will be consulted before any decision is made by the Board. c. Where a position has been posted on a temporary basis and a decision has been made to fill this position on a continuing basis, the position shall be re-posted in the District. d. The fact that a local teacher applying for a position that will be filled on a continuing basis causes disruption to that teacher's school shall not be a factor influencing consideration of their application.
