Probationary Sergeants Sample Clauses

Probationary Sergeants. Each newly promoted sergeant will undergo the statutory six (6) months of probation, training and orientation during which time the salary as provided in Appendix A-1 shall be paid. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the individual’s salary will increase to that provided for sergeants in Appendix A-1.

The City reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to extend the probationary period for any newly promoted Sergeant by a period not to exceed six (6) months. Such an extension may be implemented in cases where the Sergeant has not satisfactorily met the required performance standards during the initial probationary period.

Upon conclusion of the probationary period (normally one year), their positions shall be considered vacant and another sergeant may bid for the position. If filled, the position will be filled in accordance with the terms of this Article.
