Professional Development and Recognition Programme. Practice Nurses
Professional Development and Recognition Programme. In recognition of the importance of increasing the number of expert/accomplished and proficient nurses, an employee who reaches the following levels will receive a pro-rate allowance as long as that employee maintains that level of practice. All levels of practice shall be added to the base rate of pay and be payable on all hours worked. The rates of these allowances are as follows: RN Expert $4,500 p.a. RN Proficient $3,000 p.a. EN Accomplished $4,500 p.a. EN Proficient $3,000 p.a. All RNs and ENs will be able to progress within the pathway, with all RNs and ENS required to demonstrate competent level of practice. Achievement of proficient and expert (RNs) and proficient and accomplished (ENs) is voluntary.

1. Nursing staff are encouraged to join the Bidwill Trust Hospital PDRP and submit a NCNZ competent level of practice portfolio.
2. All nursing staff employed after 1 September 2017, must submit a NCNZ competent level of practice portfolio within 12 months of the commencement of their employment.
3. All RN’s and EN’s will be able to progress within the pathway. Achievement of proficient/accomplished and expert levels is voluntary. The senior nursing management positions of Director of Nursing, Theatre Manager and Clinical ▇▇▇▇ Manager are excluded from receiving PDRP allowances. The assessment cycle for a PDRP portfolio is three (3) yearly and only current and approve portfolios will attract the PDRP allowance. Moving from one portfolio to another can occur within the three (3) year cycle with the approval of the manager. An RN who reaches proficient/expert levels of an EN that reaches proficient/accomplished levels will receive a pro-rated allowance as long as she/he maintains that level of practice. The PDRP Allowance will be forfeited if the employee’s portfolio does not meet the minimum standard of the level being maintained or the employee fails to submit for maintenance of their current levels of practice. The allowance will cease from the first pay period following the due date. PDRP allowance payments do not apply to nursing staff on casual contracts.

In recognition of the importance of increasing the number of expert nurses, an employee who reaches the following levels will receive a pro rata allowance as long as she/he maintains the level of practice. Competent/Portfolio Level 2 - $600 Proficient ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇ - $2,500 Expert ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇ - $4,000 This allowance is to be added to the employee’s basic rate of pay and payable on all hours worked including penal rates and overtime. The Clinical Career Pathway criteria is open to review and modification by agreement between the General Manager and the Community Health Nurses annually.

(a) The Serco RN PDRP programme is based on the Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) PDRP programme.
(b) The aims of PDRP for nurses are to:
a. Ensure that all nursing staff maintains a professional portfolio that contains evidence of competent practice in compliance with the NCNZ competencies and continuing competence requirements.
b. Validation and maintenance of level of practice.
c. Encourage & recognises nursing professional achievement.
d. Maintain a fair and transparent process.
(c) In recognition of the importance of increasing the number of expert/accomplished and proficient nurses, an employee who reaches the following levels will receive a pro-rate allowance as long the employee maintains that level of practice.
