Questions of WP7 Sample Clauses

Questions of WP7. Results What control is most needed on production to ensure that manufactured cylinders will behave as observed under type approval? The process of manufacturing composite cylinder can be considered a “special process”. Special processes are so called when the resulting output cannot be completely verified by subsequent monitoring or measurement of the product and, as a consequence, deficiencies become apparent only after the product is in use. For such processes, it is not possible to verify the characteristics of the product during pro- cessing without destroying the product as part of the evaluation. For these processes, the only alternative to destroying useable product is to ensure that the process is controlled to the degree that it is capable of producing only conforming product that behave as the validated one. To achieve this outcome, the control of these processes should establish arrangements which may include defined criteria for review and approval of the processes, approval of equipment and qualification of personnel, use of specific methods and procedures, requirements for records and revalidation. This involves defining which essential material and manufacturing parameters should be sub- ject to a quality assurance plan because they determine strength and resistance to degrada- tion. In addition to the control of the process, the adoption of subsequent inspections and meas- urements of the product, can bring to the detection of some characteristics, thus allowing the definition of acceptance criteria for the cylinders. Present standards generally address the production parameters identified in this study as influencing the performances of the cylinders and also prescribe a set of tests for the ac- ceptance of each production batch. In this study the manufacturing variation that has shown the bigger effect on the final perfor- xxxxx of the cylinder is MF4 (different fibre). The MF3 (Improper curing) caused also an im- portant effect on cyclic performance on Type 3 cylinder and on burst test scattering on Type 4 cylinder. The other manufacturing variations have shown a limited consequence on the cyl- xxxxx performance. The burst test prescribed by present regulations, norms and standards would detect the use of a different fibre, being the resistance of the cylinder proportional to the mechanical characteristics of the fibres. Improper curing has shown important effect on cyclic test performance of Type 3 cylinders and on the test results sca...
