SABBATICAL EDUCATION LEAVE PROGRAM. Effective April 21: The Employer agrees to investigate and implement a Sabbatical Education Leave Program for Regular Full-Time Employees which will incorporate those elements which are statutorily mandatory for a Sabbatical Education Leave Program. The Program will be in a form acceptable to Revenue Canada to facilitate an advance tax ruling. The Employer agrees to pay the cost to obtain the advance tax ruling to a maximum of There will be no other costs to the Employer for the Plan. Benefits, vacation, increments, pension, and seniority will be as outlined in Appendix “A”, subject to Revenue Canada, Pension, and other regulations. Approval of participation in the Sabbatical Education Leave Program will be subject to authorization by the Department Director, and will depend on operational requirements of the work unit. If the employee and the manager are unable to reach agreement, the matter may be referred to the City Manager’s office for review. In order for the Sabbatical Education Leave Program to be implemented, the Employer and the Union must agree to the Plan text. This Letter of Understanding shall continue in force until December and shall remain in force thereafter until either party serves written notice to cancel it during a period of bargaining. Such cancellation shall only be effective at the conclusion of such bargaining if no other arrangements are mutually agreed.

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund, one (1¢) cent per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Such leave will be for upgrading the employee skills in all aspects of trade union functions.   • Employee Education (A) At the discretion of the Agency Head or designee, the state may allow employees to attend short courses, institutes, and workshops which will improve their performance in their current position, without a loss of pay and benefits.

  • SICK LEAVE PROGRAM An employee may be eligible to receive donations of paid leave to be included in the employee's sick leave balance if s/he has suffered a catastrophic illness or injury which prevents the employee from being able to work or from being able to work his/her regularly scheduled number of hours. Catastrophic illness or injury is defined as a critical medical condition considered to be terminal, or a long-term major physical impairment or disability.

  • Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.

  • Sick Leave Donation Program A Labor Management Committee will be established for the purpose of proposing rules and procedures for a new, program. The LMC will be to develop consistent, transparent and equitable proposals for processes across all departments within the City. The LMC shall also explore proposals to lower the minimum leave bank required to donate sick leave and permit donation of sick leave upon separation from the City. The LMC must consult with the Office of Civil Rights to ensure compliance with the City’s Race and Social Justice Initiative. Once the LMC has developed its list of proposals, the City and Coalition of City Unions agrees to reopen each contract on this subject.

  • Paid Educational Leave a. An employee may request special paid leave at straight-time hourly rate which may be granted employees for educational purposes which will benefit the State by adding to or strengthening employee skills or knowledge and to allow employees to attend approved conferences, professional meetings and workshops.

  • In-Service Education The parties recognize the value of in-service both to the employee and the Employer and shall encourage employees to participate in in-service. All employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service seminars shall receive regular wages.

  • Unpaid Educational Leave After one (1) year of continuous employment, permission shall be granted for leave of absence for a maximum of one (1) year without pay for study, without loss of accrued benefits.
