Common use of Sabbatical Leave of Absence Clause in Contracts

Sabbatical Leave of Absence. After fifteen (15) years of service with the School Association, it may be beneficial for both the School Association and the teacher, if the teacher is provided with a one-year sabbatical. A teacher may request such a sabbatical (which request will not be unreasonably denied by the School Association) subject to the following conditions: a. the teacher engages in an approved program of professional development or study; b. the School Association guarantees employment in the subsequent year in an equivalent position, and the teacher agrees to teach for the School Association for at least two years following the sabbatical year; c. the teacher receives twenty percent (20%) of regular salary; d. The School Association pays the regular benefits for that year.
