Salary Step Increases. A permanent worker accepting provisional employment in a higher or different class in the County Classified Service, who reverts to the former classification, shall retain the salary anniversary date in the former class on the same basis as if there had been no such provisional appointment. However, such service may not be added if it preceded a period of over 28 consecutive calendar days during which the worker was not in a pay status, except by approval of the Human Resources Director or except when the worker is absent from his/her position by reason of an injury or disease for which he/she is entitled to and currently receiving Workers' Compensation benefits.

(4) After completion of 41,600 regular hours (20 years) of service, bargaining members shall receive an additional 1.25% longevity differential, for a total of 3%.
(5) After completion of 52,000 regular hours (25 years) of service, bargaining members shall receive an additional 1% longevity differential, for a total of 4%.

Upon recommendation of the documents needed to advance an extra-appointing authority and approval by the Director of Human Resources, provisional, temporary, seasonal and extra help employee employees shall be advanced to the next higher step in the salary step on the first pay period when eligible, said advancement shall be made retroactive to the first pay period when eligible (i.e. schedule upon completion of required hours the periods of service prescribed in this Section, provided that their service has been satisfactory. Also, continuous service in provisional, temporary, seasonal or extra help capacity shall be added to service in a regular established position for the purpose of determining an employee's salary anniversary date, eligibility for salary increases, as well as vacation and recommendation sick leave accrual. However, such service may not be added if it preceded a period of appointing authority). Salary Step Increases. Extraa. Increase to steps above the entry step shall be based on performance and length of service. The employee must have earned the equivalent of at least twenty-six (26) biweekly pay period of full-time eligible service since his/her step increase date.
b. Except as otherwise provided below, an employee's step increase date shall be the first day of the first full biweekly pay period in any class or the date of his or her last step increases, whichever is most recent.
c. An employee's step increase may be deferred while he or she is in provisional or probationary status. Upon receipt of a deferred increase, the employee's step increase date shall be the same as it would have been had the increase not been deferred; and retroactive payment will be made.
d. Upon change in class which results in a salary decrease, an employee shall retain the same step increase date.
e. Upon promotion, an employee shall receive a new increase date when the salary increase is 9.5% or higher.
f. An employee in Step "9" shall have no step increase date, and service in Step "9" shall not be considered as eligible service for future step increases.
g. Continuous extra-help employees employment up to fifty-two (52) weeks of full- time service, or the equivalent, shall be considered by the appointing authority for advancement to the next higher step in the salary schedule for their respective classes based on hours served in that classification as defined below. All increases shall be effective as described below. Salary range adjustments eligible service for a classification will not set step increase for an employee who is appointed to a new salary advancement hours balance for regular position without a break in service. Such extra-help employment shall be subject to all other provisions of this section governing step increases.
h. Overtime work shall not be considered as eligible service.

Temporary employees serving with no permanent status on June 27, 1981, who continue to be temporary employees thereafter with no break in that classificationservice, will continue to be compensated at Step “7”. (4) If an operating department verifies in writing that an administrative or clerical error was made in failing to submit the documents needed to advance an extra-help employee to the next salary step on the first pay period when eligible, said advancement shall be made retroactive to the first pay period when eligible (i.e. upon completion of required hours of service and recommendation of appointing authority). Within two (2) pay periods of the manager’s discovery of the issue, the manager will submit the documents to advance the employee to the next step.
