Segregation, Intensive Management, and Mental Health Units. Employees may submit a bid or voluntary demotion bid to a Segregation Unit, Intensive Management Unit, or Mental Health Unit utilizing the bid system. Staff assignments will be consistent with Policy 400.410, “Staff Assignments to Specialized Units.” If the Department changes this policy and the changes affect a mandatory subject of bargaining, the Department will give notice to the Union and satisfy its collective bargaining obligation.
A. Provided they meet the selection criteria, employees who submit a bid or voluntary demotion request will be considered for assignment into a position in a Segregation Unit, Intensive Management Unit, or Mental Health Unit.
B. This Subsection applies to all full-time positions within a Segregation Unit, Intensive Management Unit, Mental Health Unit, and/or positions assigned to an Intensive Management Unit, Segregation Unit, or Mental Health Unit for three (3) or more days during the workweek. The Employer retains the right to permanently and/or temporarily reassign an employee into and/or out of an Intensive Management Unit, Segregation Unit, or Mental Health Unit. Such determination may include a fitness for duty assessment.
C. If an employee who has bid for the position is not selected, the reason will be provided, in writing, to the affected employee.
D. Policy 400.410 applies to the units identified in Appendix K.
