SENIORITY AND REDUCTION IN FORCE. Section 1. City seniority is understood to mean an employee's most recent date of employment or re-employment. Seniority will continue to accrue during all types of leave except for leaves of absence without pay and suspensions without pay in excess of thirty (30) calendar days, which shall cause this date to be adjusted for an equivalent amount of time. A leave of absence without pay or suspension in excess of thirty (30) calendar days shall not cause an employee to lose the City seniority he accrued prior to the leave.
