Common use of SEVERE WEATHER ABSENCE Clause in Contracts

SEVERE WEATHER ABSENCE. When an employee is tardy or unable to report to work due to severe weather conditions on days that are not declared inclement by the County Executive, the employee must contact his/her supervisor no later than one hour after his/her starting time. The supervisor may authorize the use of accumulated vacation, comp time, “early closing time” leave or leave without pay. Said authorization shall not be unreasonably denied. An employee who fails to contact his/her supervisor by one hour after his/her start time will be considered absent without leave for the time absent from work unless circumstances beyond the employee's control prevent such timely contact.
