Common use of Short-Term Unpaid Leave Clause in Contracts

Short-Term Unpaid Leave. a. Upon the approval of the Local Superintendent at least five (5) days prior to the date of the leave, an employee may be granted an unpaid leave of absence not to exceed five (5) consecutive work days for personal reasons. In order to be eligible for this leave, the employee must have exhausted all personal leave. Said short term leaves shall not be granted more than once yearly to an employee. b. Unpaid leave taken without authorization by the Superintendent or unpaid leave days in excess of the maximum days approved by the Superintendent shall be considered employee insubordination and will result in the appropriate disciplinary action. Short term unpaid leave may be granted to any classified employee regardless of years worked.
