Uncompensated Leave. The EMPLOYEE shall be given uncompensated leave at the discretion of the SUPERVISOR.
Uncompensated Leave. 14.8.1 The County Superintendent may grant any member of the unit who has gained permanent status an unpaid leave of absence for a period not in excess of one school year. 14.8.2 The employee shall request such leave as soon as practical, but at least thirty (30) days prior to the day on which the leave is to begin. Such a request shall be in writing and shall include a statement as to the purpose of the leave and the dates the employee wishes to begin and end the leave. 14.8.3 The duration of such leave shall consist of no more than twelve (12) consecutive months and shall automatically terminate on June 30 of the school year in which the leave is granted. An employee on this leave shall notify the County Superintendent prior to February 15th of the year during which the leave is being taken that the employee will return to duty the ensuing school year. Failure to comply with this requirement will constitute a resignation on the part of the employee effective at the close of the school year in which the employee is on leave. 14.8.4 There shall not be a reduction of employment status for those granted this leave except that while on this leave status no person shall be entitled to compensation, including health benefits, neither shall they earn credit for a service year, nor step increment on the classified salary schedule.

If said notification is not received, proper action shall be taken to terminate employment. 10.7.4 At the expiration of the uncompensated leave, the employee shall be offered a position within the class to which he or she was previously assigned. 10.7.5 Time on uncompensated leave shall not count as time on the job except continuity toward retirement. While on uncompensated leave, an employee shall not be entitled to insurance benefits provided to his or her peers, unless the employee pays the insurance premium and it is permitted under the current plan. 10.7.6 Uncompensated leave may be granted for a maximum of one (1) year upon approval by the Board.

Uncompensated Leave. 1. At the discretion of the Board of Trustees a permanent employee with not less than three years of service in the District may be granted a leave of absence for a period not in excess of two years. There shall be no compensation for such leave and no salary increment shall accrue during it. 2. The employee shall submit a written request to the Board of Trustees delivered to the District Office no later than February 15 prior to the year in which the leave is requested. The request shall state the reasons for and the duration of the leave desired. 3. An employee granted such a leave of absence shall notify the District Office prior to February 15 of the year during which the leave is being taken that the employee will return for duty the ensuing school year. Failure to comply with this requirement will constitute a resignation on the part of the employee effective at the close of the school year in which the employee is on leave. 4. Employees on unpaid leave or employees with 39-month reemployment rights shall, upon their return, retain seniority rights, longevity, and step position on the salary schedule, which they held at the beginning of the leave. 5. During the approved uncompensated leave, the employee may, at his/her own expense, continue to receive all health and insurance benefits provided by the classified service.
