Sick and Personal Leave. 17.1 Secretaries covered by this Agreement shall accumulate one day of sick leave allowance for each month the employee receives pay in his regular yearly position. Unused sick leave shall accumulate to a maximum of eighty (80) days and be designated as "accumulated sick leave allowance". Instructional Aides shall accumulate one hour of sick leave allowance for every twenty (20) hours the employee receives pay to a maximum of 350 hours in his regular yearly position. 17.2 Any employee having exceeded his accumulated sick leave days/hours may request additional days/hours from the Superintendent. Any days/hours awarded through this request will be deducted from the accumulation during the following work year. 17.3 An employee's absence shall be chargeable to this accumulated sick leave allowance. An employee while on sick leave shall be deemed to be on continuous employment for the purpose of computing all benefits, including seniority, referred to in this Agreement. 17.4 Each employee may take two (2) days with pay not deductible from accumulated sick leave for personal leave. Application for use of a personal leave day must be submitted to the Personnel Office not less than three working days prior to the date requested. This request must receive the approval of the employee's supervisor and final approval of the Director of Personnel. In.cases of emergencies, this notification period may be waived. If only one personal day is used, the remaining day will be put into the sick leave bank at the end of the year. 17.5 Personnel shall be allowed five (5) days of absence and any additional days approved by the Superintendent, without loss of pay in the event of death of a member of the immediate family. This will also include any relative who is a permanent member of the employee's home. 1. Immediate family shall include mother, father, husband, wifeSpouse, child, xxxxxxxxxgrandchild, adopted childparent, sistergrandparent, brother, grandparents, grandchild, father-in-lawsister, mother-in-law. This will also include , father-in-law or any relative who is a permanent other member of your immediate household up to five (5) days.
2. Relative outside the employee's homeimmediate family ? two (2) days. Personnel "Relative" shall be allowed defined as aunts, uncles, first cousins, or as a designated pallbearer.
3. Friend or relative outside immediate family not listed above ? one (1) day of absence )
4. It is essential when calling these in to state the reason as death or funeral and any additional days approved by identify the Superintendent without loss of pay to attend the funeral of an aunt, uncle, nephew, xxxxx, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, or the spouse of his childrelationship.
17.6 The employer may request an employee to secure a doctor's clearance upon returning from use of sick leave after three (3) consecutive 5. These days of illness when there is reasonable doubt as must be called in to the employee's ability to perform his assigned dutiessecretary for substitutes.
17.7 Absence from duty D. Two (2) days are allotted for personal matters.
1. These might include: family illness house closings legal business household emergencies weddings graduations other good cause
2. Except in cases of emergency, in the interests of smooth building operation, every department chairperson shall inform his/her building principal of his/her intent to use a personal day. The Principal?s approval shall not be unreasonably withheld.
3. Personal days should not be construed as vacation days.
4. Notify your immediate superior and the secretary for substitutes as soon as possible. Reasons for these two (2) days need not be given.
5. The following reasons shall are to be considered discouraged:
a. Personal days before or after vacations or holidays.
b. Taking (1/2) days.
6. Unused personal days may be accumulated as sick leave deductible from the accumulative sick leave:days.
