Storage of Medication Sample Clauses

Storage of Medication. (i) All medication (see item 6 for exceptions) will be secured in a locked cabinet/container. The pupil will be made aware of where the medicine is stored and how to access it immediately. (ii) A safe container for the disposal of sharp needles will be kept in a locked cabinet and handed to the site manager for safe disposal. (iii) Medicines requiring refrigeration should be kept in a secure, clearly labelled box in the fridge.
Storage of Medication. 1. All medications shall be stored in their original pharmacy or manufacturer labeled containers, and in such manner as to render them safe and prevent loss of efficacy. A single dose of medication may be transferred from this container to a newly labeled container for the purposes of field trips or school sponsored activities. 2. All medication to be administered by the school nurse shall be kept in a securely-locked cabinet which is kept locked except when opened to obtain medications. Medications requiring refrigeration shall be stored in a locked box in a refrigerator maintained at temperatures of 38 degrees to 42 degrees. Emergency medications may be secured in other locations readily accessible only to those with authorization. 3. No more than a 30-school day supply of the prescription for a student shall be stored at the school.
Storage of Medication. Any medication received into school must be stored in a locked wall mounted cabinet and the key kept in an accessible place known to designated members of staff. The cabinet must be located in a designated area of the school eg school office. Some medication may need to be stored at low temperatures and must therefore be kept in a lockable fridge located in a designated area of the school. It is essential that staff involved with a child who may need access to medication are aware of the storage arrangements. In the case of senior school pupils it may be appropriate for them to carry emergency medication with them – schools should make such decisions based on individual circumstances in liaison with the family and school health team In most cases pupils will be allowed to carry asthma inhalers with them to ensure easy access.
Storage of Medication. 12.1 Medicines are always securely stored in accordance with individual product instructions. 12.2 The School will carry out a risk assessment to consider any risks to the health and safety of the school community and put in place measures to ensure that identified risks are managed and that medicines are stored safely. 12.3 All medicines shall be stored in the original container in which they were dispensed, together with the prescriber's instructions for administration. 12.4 Emergency medication such as inhalers, adrenaline pens and blood glucose testing meters will be kept in the emergency medication cupboard outside the medical room in a clearly marked box, but in order to allow immediate access the box has a clearly marked emergency key. In the case of medication that is not required in an emergency, the pupil will be told where their medication is stored and who holds the key. 12.5 Pupils who do not carry and administer their own medication understand which members of staff will administer their medication. 12.6 If a pupil is prescribed a controlled drug, unless otherwise agreed as part of an IHCP, it will be kept in safe custody in a locked, non-portable container and only named staff and the pupil will have access. A record of any doses used and the amount of the controlled drug held at the School will be maintained. 12.7 Those pupils who are permitted to possess a controlled drug will be advised that it is an offence to pass the drug to any other person for use. 12.8 Parents should collect all medicines belonging to their child at the end of each term and are responsible for ensuring that any date-expired medication is collected from the School.
