Student Teaching and Field Experience. 14.1 Student teaching is a mutual responsibility of the training institution and the local district. Criteria will be agreed to by both institutions; however, the following criteria shall be practices: A. The cooperating bargaining unit member shall have had at least three (3) years of teaching experience in the grade level or subject to which a student is assigned. B. The cooperating bargaining unit member will be fully recognized as a successful bargaining unit member, having prior endorsement of the principal and Superintendent (or his designee), as well as that of the university or college. C. The cooperating bargaining unit member shall be fully certificated for the assignment and should be the holder of the master's degree in the field of the assignment. 14.2 A bargaining unit member may refuse the assignment of a student teacher or field experience student. 14.3 In no case will a bargaining unit member have more than one student teacher per school year. 14.4 The assignment of student teachers will be made equitable. Problems related to the assignment of student teachers shall be reviewed by the Association president and the Superintendent or his/her designee and problems under this section of the Agreement will not be subject to the Grievance Procedure. 14.5 Preparatory institutions should cooperate to establish courses and seminars in student teaching for cooperating bargaining unit members. The local district will orient its bargaining unit members to the task and function of student teaching.
