Training and Promotion a. The contractor will assist in locating, qualifying, and increasing the skills of minorities and women who are applicants for employment or current employees. Such efforts should be aimed at developing full journey level status employees in the type of trade or job classification involved. b. Consistent with the contractor's work force requirements and as permissible under Federal and State regulations, the contractor shall make full use of training programs, i.e., apprenticeship, and on-the-job training programs for the geographical area of contract performance. In the event a special provision for training is provided under this contract, this subparagraph will be superseded as indicated in the special provision. The contracting agency may reserve training positions for persons who receive welfare assistance in accordance with 23 U.S.C. 140(a). c. The contractor will advise employees and applicants for employment of available training programs and entrance requirements for each. d. The contractor will periodically review the training and promotion potential of employees who are minorities and women and will encourage eligible employees to apply for such training and promotion.

Training and Promotion. All postings will be distributed to all branches and posted on the bulletin board for one week. It is also agreed that the Credit Union will also email each employee the posting at the same time. It is further more understood that the employer will also fax a copy of the posting to Local 74-1 (705-869-4200). 10.01 In selecting an Employee for training or promotion, the Employer shall consider the following factors: (a) qualifications, ability, skill and work record of the Employee; and (b) the seniority of the Employee concerned. Employee(s) who have enrolled in the necessary training programs to qualify for established minimum qualification shall be deemed to have the minimum qualifications for the vacancy 10.02 The Employer shall post all part time and full time, permanent and/or temporary job vacancies within the bargaining unit that will be vacant for a period of four (4) working weeks or more. The Employer shall post a notice of the position on the bulletin boards in all branches for a minimum of five (5) business days. The notice shall briefly describe the duties of the position. The Employer shall advise the Union secretary/treasurer in writing with respect to any job vacancy it does not intend to fill, such notice will be given within one (1) calendar month of the vacancy. The Employer shall notify all Employees on sick leave of such vacancies. With mutual agreement, the time period may be reduced. An Employee wishing to make application shall do so in writing within the required time limit. The application shall not be valid unless a copy is sent to the immediate manager and the Chief Executive Officer. In the event, that the position is not filled from within the bargaining unit, Management may, then, proceed to hire from outside. 10.03 Any Employee awarded a position as a result of competitive selection shall be granted a familiarization period of three (3) calendar months. If at any time during that period, the Employee wishes to return to their former position or the Employee fails to qualify, they shall return or be returned to their former position and rate of pay without loss of seniority. 10.04 If an Employee would like to go from full-time to part-time, they should be able to do so without loss of seniority or having to quit.
