Summary of Programs. HRCE allocates supplementary education funding into the categories of Halifax Regional Arts (HRA) and other enhancements. During the 2023-24 school year, XXX supported and enhanced fine arts in HRCE through a broad range of learning experiences in dance, drama, music, and visual arts. Goals for programming included meeting the needs of our diverse populations, understanding our diverse cultural and historical contexts, and exploring new and innovative ways to bring fine arts to the youngest residents of HRM. All students in HRCE from Grades Primary-12 (P-12) had fine arts enhancements available to them throughout the 2023-24 school year. These took a wide variety of forms, including: Drama/Dance • 8.5 Family of Schools Fine Arts Specialists who worked with students from Grades P-12 • 5 Regional Fine Arts Specialists who focus on African Nova Scotia and Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal cultures worked with students from P-12 • Special guest performers who visited schools in person and virtually • 21 school shows for 70 performances involving 600 students. This included: o Family of Schools Specialist supportTech support ▪ Choreographers ▪ Vocal coaches ▪ Musical directors ▪ Set construction ▪ Producers o Show rights and royalties o Costume support o Materials o Venue support o Equipment support • 15 Improv Teams for more than 50 hours of rehearsal and performance time for 160 students. Support included: o Coaching o Uniforms o Tournament support o Club involvement • Funding for access to performances including: o Partnerships with performance organizations o Partnerships with venues o Tickets o Transportation o Food support • Partnerships with the following Performing Arts Organizations: o Eastern Front Theatre o Neptune Theatre o Mermaid Theatre o Perform o Theatre Nova Scotia o Spontaneity Theatre o Halifax Theatre for Young People • Participation in Drama Fest with Theatre Nova Scotia • Opportunities to develop, perform, and present work • Drama and dance workshops and performances Music • Ensembles including: o Choirs o Bands (including Orff Ensembles) o Strings ▪ Orchestral ▪ Fiddle ▪ Guitar ▪ Ukulele • Regular rehearsals and performances • Music clinicians and mentors who worked with students and their teachers • Musical instrumentsBooks and materials • Special guest artists and performing groups • Travel to performances Visual Arts
