Suspended Platforms. The Principal Contractor shall ensure that all suspended platform work operations are carried out under the supervision of a competent person who has been appointed in writing and that all suspended platform erectors, operators and inspectors are competent to carry out their work. Suspended Platforms. (Construction Regulation 17) The Contractor to design, erect, use and maintain suspended platforms in accordance with the requirements of Construction Regulation 17.
Suspended Platforms. Contractors must ensure that all suspended platform work operations are carried out under the supervision of a Competent Person who has been appointed in writing, and that all suspended platform erectors, operators and inspectors are competent to carry out their work. Employees working on a suspended platform must be provided with a safety harness as a fall prevention device which must at all times, be attached to the suspended platform or to the anchorage points on the structure whilst on the suspended platform. Where hand or power driven machinery is to be used for the lifting or lowering of the working platform of a suspended platform, it must be constructed and maintained in such a manner that the uncontrolled movement of the working platform cannot occur. A Contractor shall ensure that the suspended platform supervisor appointed carries out a daily inspection of all the equipment prior to use. A Contractor shall ensure that all inspection and performance test records are kept on the construction site at all times and made available to an Inspector, Client, Client’s Agent or employee upon request. A contractor shall ensure that all employees required to work or to be supported on a suspended platform are competent in conducting work related to suspended platforms safely. The purpose of self scheduling is to improve job satisfaction and quality of work life for the participating employees. Self scheduling requires a collaboration of employees and management to ensure proper coverage of the Home and to meet the provisions of the Collective Agreement. It is agreed that self scheduling will be negotiated locally by the Home and the Union and will include a trial period. Each Home must have the majority agreement of the full-time and part-time employees who vote on the issue to agree on a trial period of up to six months. Once the trial period is complete, each Home must have a minimum of 66⅔% agreement of the full-time and part-time employees who vote on the issue to continue with the new schedule on a permanent basis.
