Scheduled days of student instruction which are not held because of conditions not within the control of school authorities such as inclement weather, fires, epidemics, power outages, mechanical break downs, or health conditions as defined by the appropriate
C. Meetings: city, county or state health authorities, may be rescheduled at the discretion of the Board. Teachers will receive their regular pay for days which are cancelled, but shall work on any rescheduled day with no additional compensation. The Board shall not be required to cancel a 'workday' (i.e., a day when teachers report, but students are not in session such as an end of semester grading day, a parent-teacher conference day, or an in-service day) or that portion of any day which is scheduled to be a partial work day even though students do not report. However, the Board may do so in its discretion. The Board shall not be required to reschedule a work day or a partial work day which is cancelled, but may do so in its discretion. Total annual salary is based upon l302 hours of work during the entire school year regardless of whether the hours actually worked are the same as originally scheduled or are different from those originally scheduled due to rescheduling by the Board. E. The work year for teachers shall be one hundred eighty-two (182) days: the one hundred eighty (180) days that students are required to be in attendance and two (2) professional development days. It is further mutually agreed by the Committee and the Association that the past practice relative to 7:30 am assignment shall continue. Teachers shall register their exit by the same means no earlier than 2:45 pm except on those days when teachers are assigned to other duties. Each teacher will be assigned one afternoon per week when he/she shall remain until 3:30 pm for make-up work/extra help for students, parent meetings, curriculum work, TEAM meetings or other educational purposes. This day will be determined in consultation with the immediate supervisor. Teachers shall schedule students for these sessions. If a Unit A member is absent, best efforts will be made to obtain a substitute in every area. The Athletic Director may have a reduced teaching load consisting of at least four (4) teaching periods per day. The workday of the LPN Program Instructors shall be seven and one-quarter (7 ¼) hours per day. LPN Instructors shall register their entry and exit by using the designated procedure whenever they enter and exit the Upper Cape Cod Vocational Technical School and will maintain a log of their attendance when at other work sitesupon annually.
B. Common Planning Time: On regular The mutually-agreed official calendar shall be completed and disbursed prior to the end of the current school year.
C. The Board agrees the teacher’s work year will align with MCL 388.1701.
D. It is agreed that at least one full day of the non-student work days between 2:15 pm and 2:45 pm, teachers may be involved in Cluster or Departmental activities which during the opening week of school shall be initiated by reserved exclusively for teachers to work in their classrooms. The Administration reserves the appropriate
C. Meetings: right to spread this time over the opening week of meetings. Teachers may be required to remain until 3:30 pm after school without additional compensation for up to one hour and twenty minutes after the close of the normal work day once a month to attend meetings called by the school principal. Where split schedules exist, schedules may be arranged so that all teachers may attend the same meeting. Teachers may, upon approval of the principal, place educationally related items on eight the agenda, such agenda to be given to teachers twenty-four (8) 24) hours in advance of the meeting except in emergencies. The SEA representative may give a report at the end of each meeting. Thursdays shall be reserved for SEA meetings. Teachers may be required to remain after school without additional compensation for one additional principal meeting each semester. Attendance at professional meetings, such as jointly sponsored in-service workshops and conferences, when contractual or during the regular school day, shall be a professional obligation of each teacher. Teachers are encouraged to attend professional meetings at other scheduled times. Building Representative may call two (2) building meetings per month during the teacher work day for discussion of Association matters. Such meetings shall be held at times other than when teachers are responsible for supervising students, during preparation periods, or during previously scheduled faculty meetings or school programs. The District shall, subject to state regulations, provide a total of two (2) one-half days per year which (one each semester) to be used for elementary teachers’ planning, preparation, conference time. Said half days shall be scheduled on student instruction days as provided in Appendix D. It is the intent of the Board to make every reasonable effort to avoid scheduling secondary teachers in more than two (2) rooms (excluding homerooms) on a daily basis in two (2) consecutive years. Exceptions may be made in the case of traveling teachers or where specially- equipped rooms are involved.
E. In the event art, music and physical education are again provided on a consultant services basis, the following provisions shall apply. The assignment of such art, music and physical education consultants to the classroom teacher shall be on a mutually agreed basis between the principal and the teacher. Such assignment shall be subject to a review by the principal and teacher at the end of the first week in Octobersemester. These meetings will not be rescheduled after being scheduled, as provided herein, except in case of emergency or unforeseen conflicts. When the rescheduling of a meeting is necessary, The teachers will be provided a minimum schedule of visits for each special subject teacher at least one week in advance of the visit and will have an opportunity to recommend changes in such schedules. The art, music and physical education personnel shall forward a copy of their lesson plans together with the aims and objectives of the program and a list of materials to be used if applicable one week in advance where possible. The classroom teacher may request that the principals schedule a meeting with such personnel.
F. Secondary teachers will not be required to teach more than two (2) weeks written notice subjects nor more than a total of three (3) teaching preparations per day. Academic intervention will not be considered as an additional subject as the rescheduled meeting date. These meetings are administration will be responsible for providing a prepared lesson for the following purpose:
1duration of this class period. Faculty meetings (including LPN Instructors who are on the Bourne Campus)
2. In-service
3. Curriculum work
4. Other educational purposes
D. Consecutive classes for classroom teachers; Academic teachers required to teach four (4) A different curriculum or more consecutive periods without an interruption will be provided with a ten (10) minute break upon their request. Whenever an LPN Instructor is assigned to a clinical sitetrack, they shall receive the preparation and administrative time provided by this section at the end of the workday.
E. The work year for teachers shall be one hundred eighty-two (182) days: considered a separate preparation. At the one hundred eighty (180) days that students are required to be middle school level, the prevailing practices in attendance and two (2) professional development days. The first two (2) days of each building, as experienced during the work year may be staff professional development full days: the Monday and Tuesday before Labor Day. Students may return on the Tuesday or Wednesday. In additionpast school year, staff members may have a half a professional development day per term. The work year for School Counselors shall be the Teachers’ year plus five (5) days paid at determining factor in the Counselor’s per diem rate. Any additional days worked beyond those five days will be at the Counselor’s per diem rate and must have prior approval by the Principal or Superintendent. The ratio interpretation of student to School Counselor will not exceed 300 to 1 per year.
X. Under normal circumstances there are eight (8) periods per day. All teachers may be assigned six (6) teaching periodsthis section, plus one (1) preparation period and one (1) administrative period, each of which shall be substantially equal to a teaching period, (administrative periods shall be used as preparation periods when no specific assignments have been made by the Administration); provided, however, that the preparation Board agrees to continue to work toward making the practice conform to the intent of this provision. The prevailing practice is to be determined by the principal after consultation with the Association representative and administrative period will the concerned teacher or teachers. In the case of 6th grade in the middle school, the Technology Education component shall not be available to those teachers who are assigned on work projects at locations other than the school building. Teachers who agree to teach more than six (6) teaching periods will receive additional compensation at the rate of one eighth (1/8) of Step 1 of the teacher’s level of attainment on the salary scheduleconsidered a separate preparation or subject, even though a grade may be given.
G. Teachers will be allowed a duty-free lunch period equal recognize that their responsibilities to their students and profession require the student lunch period except in cases performance of emergencies. Whenever a teacher works off-campus and is unable to get a duty-free lunch (this is not applicable to field trips), they shall submit weekly timesheets and will be compensated at duties that involve the current hourly rate expenditure of time beyond that of the normal working day including preparation for the length supervision of co-curricular student activities and functions. When it is necessary to maintain a co-curriculum on an hourly pay basis, the student lunch period.
H. Teachers teachers who are required to work beyond voluntarily perform the work year, as defined by the provisions of this Agreement, functions shall be compensated at their per diem equally regardless of grade level for equal function. Such voluntary activities that call for a flat-rate (1/182) per day for such additional time. Whenever there is the need for additional work days to allow a student to meet the required hours to complete the LPN Program, the extra work time will first be offered to LPN Instructors by seniority on a rotating basis. If no LPN Instructors accept the additional work, the work will next be offered to members of the bargaining unit who compensation are qualified and if no qualified bargaining unit member is available, the Administration may hire a qualified instructor who is not employed by the Committee. With prior approval of the Superintendent, teachers who agree to perform non-required work outside of the work year, as defined by the provisions of this Agreement, and are directly related to curriculum and/or services to students, shall be paid $39 per hour, effective July 1, 2022 then will be increased to $40 per hour effective July 1, 2023 and then will be increased to $41 per hour effective July 1, 2024.
I. All teachers shall, on a weekly basis, update student grades on the student information system. The weekly grades shall provide at least three (3) documented criteria as determined by the teacher. The Committee shall provide training on the student information system during professional development days.listed in Appendix A.
