Term Employees. (a) The words "term employee" shall mean a person who is employed for a specific term or a specific project, with a maximum duration of seven (7) months or such other duration that may be agreeable to the Union. (b) In the event of an employee being absent (such as maternity leave or an authorized leave of absence, vacation, injury, illness, etc.) the Employer shall be allowed to fill the vacancy on a "term" basis without posting the vacancy as outlined in Section 21 of this Agreement. All other terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement shall apply. (d) Employees who take a term position will be allowed when the term position is completed, to revert to their previous position with all other employees moving accordingly. (a) Senior regular part-time employees will be allowed available extra hours within the department, classification and shift as hours become available, to a maximum of full-time status. (b) Seniority shall be the governing factor for part-time employees to receive daily available hours of work. Term Employees. (a) The words "term employee" Term employees shall mean a person who is employed be defined as employees hired for a specific term or job within the bargaining unit for a specific project, with a maximum duration period of seven no less than three (73) months and no more than two (2) years duration. Term employees kept beyond two (2) continuous years in a supernumerary position fully funded by CUPE shall automatically attain permanent status. Term employees hired or retained by CUPE, as a result of an employee being on a leave of absence will not be deemed to have been hired or working in a supernumerary position. (b) Term employees shall not be placed on the seniority list. Term employees who subsequently become permanent within twelve (12) months of their term employment, however, shall have such other duration that may service counted for all seniority-related purposes. Such service shall also be agreeable counted towards completion of the probationary period when the work involved during the term is directly related to the permanent position filled. Term employees as defined in Articles 10.07 (a) and 11.06 shall have seniority for bidding purposes for positions covered under the Collective Agreement as follows: (i) All service worked from the original date of hire provided there has not been a break in service of more than five hundred and fifty (550) days. (ii) In the event there is a break in service of 30 days or less, such time shall be considered as continuous service. (iii) If there is a break in service over 30 calendar days, such time will not contribute to service, and seniority date will be adjusted accordingly. (iv) Affected temporary employees will be notified of any extensions to their temporary assignments a minimum of (3) three weeks prior to the completion of their assignment where reasonably possible. (c) Term employees shall be paid no less than the minimum salary level of the classification. Term employees shall also become members of the Union and the Employer shall deduct any monthly dues, assessments and initiations owing to the Union. (bd) In the event of an employee being absent (such as maternity leave or an authorized Term employees on leave of absenceabsence from another employer, vacationwho may wish to remain on the benefit plans of that employer, injury, illness, etc.) the Employer shall be allowed reimbursed an amount equal to fill the vacancy premium costs involved, such costs not to exceed that of premiums paid by CUPE on a "term" basis without posting behalf of its employees. Other term employees shall: (i) be enrolled in the vacancy as outlined medical and dental plans paid for fully by the Employer; (ii) receive vacation credits and vacation bonus in Section 21 of accordance with this Agreement; (iii) be entitled to paid sick leave, life insurance and long-term disability coverage in accordance with the established policy covering permanent employees; (iv) be entitled to the monthly automobile allowance subject to Article 21 and the policy agreed to by the parties; and to mileage allowance. (cv) Vacancies as indicated above shall be filled and offered first enrolled in the CUPE Pension Plan, unless they advise CUPE, in writing, not to part- time employees according to seniority. If no part-time employees within the bargaining unit accept this term position, the Employer may post the position for employees outside the bargaining unit. It is understood that casual employees may apply for such a position at the same time as people outside of the bargaining unit. If candidates have the same qualifications and ability to perform the normal duties of the job, preference in hiring will go to casual employees over people outside of the bargaining unit. Term employees hired into a permanent position immediately following the end of the term will accrue seniority retroactive to the first day of hire to include the term. Term Employees.
