Common use of Unpaid Leave - Union Business Clause in Contracts

Unpaid Leave - Union Business. (a) Leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority shall be granted with reasonable notice for the purposes listed below. Such leave shall be subject to operational requirements and shall not be unreasonably withheld: (1) to an elected or appointed representative of the Union to attend conventions of the Union and bodies to which the Union is affiliated; (2) for elected or appointed representatives of the Union to attend to Union business which requires them to leave their general work area; (3) to employees called by the Union to appear as witnesses before an arbitration board or the Industrial Relations Council of B.C., provided the dispute involves the Employer; or (4) to employees representing the Union in collective bargaining with the Employer. This provision does not apply to employees who are hired by the Union for a period greater than six (6) months. (b) To facilitate the administration of Section (a) when leave without pay is granted, the leave shall be given with basic pay and the Union shall reimburse the Employer for wages and benefits including travel time, incurred. It is understood that employees granted leave of absence pursuant to this clause shall receive their current rate of pay while on leave of absence. The Union agrees to reimburse the Employer within one (1) month of receipt of billing from the Employer.

(b) To facilitate the administration of Section Clause (a) (1) through (a) (4) when leave without pay is granted, the leave shall be given with basic pay and the Union shall reimburse the Employer for wages and benefits including travel time, incurred. It is understood that employees granted leave of absence pursuant to this clause shall receive their current rate of pay while on leave of absence. For a leave granted per Xxxxxx (a) (5) above, the Union will pay wages and other benefits owed directly to the individual to whom such leave is granted. The Union agrees to reimburse the Employer within one (1) month of receipt of billing from the Employer.

The Union agrees to reimburse the Employer within one twenty-eight (128) month days of receipt of billing from the Employer.

The employee shall provide the Employer with seven (a7) Leave of absence without pay days written notice and without loss of seniority shall be granted with reasonable notice for the purposes listed below. Such leave shall be subject to operational requirements and requirements; approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. Such leaves of absence without pay shall be granted for the following purposes: (1a) to To an elected or appointed representative of the Union to attend conventions of the Union and bodies to which the Union is affiliated; (2b) for For elected or appointed representatives of the Union to attend to Union business which requires them to leave their general work area; (3c) to To employees called by the Union to appear as witnesses before an arbitration board or the Industrial Labour Relations Council Board of B.C., provided the dispute involves the Employer; or (4d) to To employees representing the Union in collective bargaining with the Employerbargaining. This provision does not apply to employees who are hired by the Union for a period greater than six (6) months. (b) To facilitate the administration of Section (a), (b), (c), (d) when leave without pay is granted, the leave shall be given with basic pay and benefits and the Union shall reimburse the Employer for wages and benefits appropriate compensation costs, including travel time, incurred. It is understood that employees granted leave of absence pursuant to this clause shall receive their current rate rates of pay pay, all benefits and seniority while on leave of absence. The Union agrees to reimburse the Employer within one (1) month of receipt of billing from the Employer. This provision does not apply to employees who are hired by the Union for a period greater than six (6) months and who are required to resign from their positions.
